CSX Train Derailed in Cartersville, GA

A CSX train derailed on Nov. 5, 2010 near a residential neighborhood in Cartersville, GA. Reports indicate that about 20 rail cars jumped the tracks. The tracks and some equipment were damaged. The grain that the train was carrying when it derailed spilled across the tracks. No injuries to railway workers on board the train were reported.

The accident occurred near private homes on Point Drive. And, according to a SkyFox 5 Reporter, some of the grain landed on cars parked outside nearby homes. No one in the area was injured. There were no toxic materials on the train at the time of the accident.

CSX had heavy equipment brought to the site for cleanup, according to reports. An investigation to determine what caused the accident is still underway.
