FRA Safety Advisory For Switching Operations
The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) issued a new safety advisory that applies to switching operation hazards.
The advisory is based on federal regulations and railroad operating rules that apply to rolling equipment safety. The advisory was issued after railroad employees were killed in switching operations on two separate occasions.
The FRA advisory says that employers should make sure employees understand the appropriate safety measures they should take and suggests that they review the recent incidents involving leaving out rolling equipment.
