Norfolk Southern to Hire 500 Employees before Dec. 31

Norfolk Southern announced that it plans to hire 500 employees before the end of 2011. The rail company also stated that it plans to hire 2,600 employees in 2012 to meet its growing demand for service.

The company made the announcement on Nov. 3, 2011, stating that it plans to hire conductors, freight car repairers, signal maintainers, machinists and track maintenance workers.

The Fortune 300 company has more than 30,000 employees currently.
